Meijer announces 2020 construction date for new Seven Hills SuperCenter
SEVEN HILLS, Ohio — Less than six months after Kmart closed its Broadview Road store, Meijer announced at an Aug. 14 Seven Hills Planning Commission meeting its plans to expedite the building of a SuperCenter — with a grocery, deli, bakery, pharmacy and garden center — a year earlier than originally expected.
“We’re very excited to announce a representative of Meijer stores shared with the City of Seven Hills that it’s come to terms with buying Kmart out of their lease,” City Council President Anthony D. Biasiotta said.
The City Council president said only one real estate brokerage firm returned his call. Anchor Cleveland told Biasiotta that it had a client — Meijer — looking in the area.
“From an economic development standpoint, we want to do whatever we can whenever we can to bring in jobs,” Biasiotta said. “Meijer will be hiring union employees. The city will derive income tax from that.”
